Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press
What is Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press
Stretch forming is a type of metalworking most commonly used in aerospace applications.During the metal stretch forming process ,metal sheets or extrusions are stretched to exceed their inherent elastic limit and formed around contoured dies to create the desired shape. This stretching results in an increased material yield strength and a stronger finished part.Since stretch forming machines maintain constant tension of the metal throughout the process, they minimize imperfections and wrinkles.
Various profiles can be bent
Almost all sections of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and other metal profiles and pipes can be bent. After spraying, electrophoresis, electroplating, polishing, wire drawing, etc.,the material can be bent directly without damaging the surface of the material.Profiles with cavities and complex cross sections can be formed at one time.
Good bending quality
When the relative bending radius allows, the inner wall will not be wrinkled and the section will not be distorted.
Bending can effectively eliminate the residual stress inside the material, and the product has good dimensional stability.Due to the cold work hardening of the metal material, the comprehensive mechanical properties of the material can be improved after the material is stretched and bent.
Can bend a variety of curved shapes
In addition to bending traditional standard arcs,it can bend a range of complex curves such as ellipses, parabolas, arcs with straight line segments, conic curves and multi-radius curves.
Strong bending ability
The one time forming degree can reach 12 meters, which can improve the installation efficiency, reduce the installation cost, save materials and improve the quality of the project for projects that require a long arc length.

Assembly hydraulic presses
Fastening two or more parts together with a hydraulic assembly press.Straining material, usually flat sheet or strip metal,by moving it around a straight axis and applying stress. The bend is permanently set after removal of the applied stress.
Coining
Highly compressing all surfaces of a workpiece within a closed die system. An object produced by the compression of powdered material, typically done with a custom hydraulic compaction press. An assembly technique that uses a custom assembly press and appropriate tool to fold and flatten material so that two pieces are securely fastened together by pinching action.
Embossing molding
A process using a custom hydraulic press that creates imprinted designs in sheet material by means of male and female dies, theoretically with no change in metal thickness.Converting a flat sheet metal workpiece into a 3D part.Cutting or punching an opening,As a hole in sheet material, plate or various parts with a hydraulic C-frame floor press.
straighten and trim
Bending, twisting,or stretching to correct any deviation from straightness in bars, tubes,or similar long parts or shapes.Typically,a secondary cutting or shearing operation on a previously formed, drawn or forged part. The goal is to trim any surplus metal off the edges, bringing the part to the desired shape and size.
Working Principle Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press

If a part were to be curved without first being stretched, two natural forces would occur during the process.First, one half of the part would naturally be stretched.Secondly, the other half would go into compression, and the neutral axis would be the division between the two. Stretching the material compensates for the compression that would normally take place on the inner surface of the part, which,in turn, eliminates the wrinkling or twist. It could be said that a stretch forming machine bends parts into curved shapes, but does so while pulling the wrinkles out of the part before they can occur.
In this combination,of bending and stretching, the outer fibers of the part being formed experience an elongation stretch sufficient enough to put this fiber into yield i.e.it has been stretched beyond its ability to return to its original length after the stretching force has been relaxed. Therefore, the parts remain close to the shape of the form block after it’s been removed from the stretch forming machine.
Application of Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press
For powder compacting
In powder compacting,a hydraulic press compresses powdered materials into various designs and shapes.
For concrete compression testing
Concrete manufacturers test the tensile strength of their materials using hydraulic presses.
For scrap baling
Scrap baling equipment is used for crushing metal objects such as cars and machines for easy transport, processing, and storage.
For ceramics manufacturing
Hydraulic presses operating at room temperature are replacing high-temperature kiln production methods for tiles, bricks and other items.
Components of Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press
Hydraulic Pump
The centre of the hydraulic system is the hydraulic pump.By generating a flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid,it transforms mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. In press machines, gear, vane, and piston pumps are standard hydraulic pumps.
Hydraulic Fluid
The medium for power transmission inside the hydraulic system is fluid, which is frequently oil-based.It performs functions for lubrication, cooling, sealing, and transferring force. The qualities and factors will be examined to choose the correct hydraulic fluid and get the best system performance.

Hydraulic Cylinder
The hydraulic cylinder is a crucial part that transforms hydraulic energy into mechanical force. The device comprises a rod,a piston, and a cylindrical barrel. We will go through the operation of hydraulic cylinders and how they assist in creating the required force for pressing operations.
Control valves
The flow and pressure of hydraulic fluid within the system must be controlled via control valves.Depending on the necessary movement and force, they send the fluid to various parts, including the cylinder. We will discuss the several categories of control valves frequently found in hydraulic press machines, such as directional control valves, pressure relief valves, and flow control valves.
How to maintain Stretch Forming Hydraulic Press
Look for oil leak on all hydraulic lines
A small leak can be a big mess.Tighten fittings and clean up excess oil.Keep the press clean to help locate leaks as they develop and to help keep the press cooler.Measure fluid levels and top off as necessary. Most presses have an oil tag on the machine describing the type of oil to be used.
Check for loose bolts
Some dies can cause vibrations that can loosen bolts over time.Tighten bolts and clean up around the work area.Make sure there is lubrication on the guided plates. Some bushings will have greased fittings to keep lubrication over the rod.Do not over grease, this causes dirt accumulation and the bearings will wear.Other bushings have a check valve type fitting, which have graphite impregnated into the bronze and require little maintenance.
Inspect the oil temperature.
Let the machine warm to operating temperature. When the press has reached its normal operating temperature,it should be around 120 degrees F.Check the ram.A press’s ram should be moist but not dripping oil.Be careful to not over grease because this causes dirt to accumulate, causing the bearing to wear prematurely.
Check light curtain function
The ram may become out of center in the cylinder due to wear of the platen gibs.Break beam while ram is traveling down,Whenever the platen gibs are shimmed, check the ram position and readjust.Breaking beam on the upward stroke may not stop the press. If platen gibs are not kept properly adjusted, damage to the main ram and cylinder bushing may occur.
